Weather Policies
HOT WEATHER POLICY
If the temperature on the Bureau of Meteorology website www.bom.gov.au at 5.00pm is:
- 37 degrees and above, but below 41 degrees, a modified program will start at normal time. Tiny tots will start at 6.30 pm and a shortened program will be run in the shade
- 41 degrees & above the meet will be cancelled.
For SALAA events the same policy applies however the temperature will be as advised on the Bureau of Meteorology website www.bom.gov.au at 4.10 pm the Friday before the event.
WET WEATHER POLICY
If the oval is considered too wet to participate on, the meet will be cancelled. This may occur if it has been raining all day or rains heavily just prior to 6 pm.
If the oval is not too wet but the grass remains slippery then a modified program will start at normal time.
For SALAA events there is no wet weather policy and it will start as normal.
LIGHTNING POLICY
If there is a risk of lightning the meet will be postponed until the lightning passes. If the lightning is expected to continue for an extended period the meet will be cancelled. If lightning threatens during the meet move off the oval and take shelter under cover or in a car, and an announcement will be made over the PA system.
For SALAA events the same policy applies.
